Description of Services - Schedule of Services

SCHEDULE OF SERVICES

1st: Assessment.

Whether problem behavior reduction, skill training, or language acquisition is

desired, a measure of baseline is needed. Baseline is a measurement of what the current level of

behavior is. Wherever possible, the function of the behavior and/or the reason for the skill deficit

is determined. By measuring baseline and determining the function of the behavior, an individual

treatment program can be developed. During baseline data collection, you may see me do things

that do not necessarily help the behavior or may even make it worse. The purpose is to determine

the conditions under which the behavior occurs. During skill or language training, baseline is

collected to help the learner begin at a comfortable, individualized level to both avoid frustration

and not to re-teach skills already known. Then small steps are developed to reach a larger goal.

2nd: Treatment.

Based on the results of the assessment, an individualized treatment is developed.

Your consultant may practice/demonstrate the treatment. Your therapists will carry it out and

encourage growth, while troubleshooting problems with the consultant and rest of the team.

Treatment may be brief or ongoing, depending on the nature of the problem. Families and other

caregivers are trained.

3rd: Generalization and follow-up.

Generalization refers to exhibiting the new behavior under

different conditions to ensure that the behavior change truly is mastered, and the learning

acquired is functional. Learned skills are developed and combined. At some point, we will

decide not to work with one another as frequently, hopefully because such intensive services no

longer are needed. At this point, follow-up may be scheduled, your team will fade out gradually

with success, and we will ultimately be in contact via occasional follow-up meetings, phone

calls, or email, in case questions or problems arise. This schedule will be determined by your

need and the end of services will be the result of mutual agreement.
